Notable Features and Pricing
A Paris-Dakar Legacy
The Africa Twin was inspired by the legendary Honda NXR-750, a bike that dominated the Paris-Dakar Rally with four consecutive wins in the late 1980s. Built as an homage to those desert racers, the Africa Twin is a large, capable dual-sport motorcycle designed for both on-road comfort and off-road performance. Its powerful V-twin engine is tuned for adventure, providing a smooth yet responsive ride.
Design and Features
This model comes with twin headlights, a windscreen, and a long dual seat stretching back from the fuel tank to an aluminum grab rail, ensuring both comfort and practicality. The aluminum bash plate underneath the engine offers protection from rocks and impacts, perfect for off-road use. The long-travel suspension and air-valve adjustable damping ensure the rider can handle uneven surfaces with ease.
Braking is efficient, with twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear, all controlled by Nissin calipers, providing strong stopping power when needed.
RD07/A Updates and Improvements
In 1993, the ‘RD07’ version brought significant updates to the Africa Twin, including a new box-section steel frame, updated bodywork, fuel tank modifications, and a lower seat height. In 1996, further improvements included a better seat and clutch, a larger silencer, a modified upper fairing and windscreen, and a new luggage rack as part of the ‘RD07/A’ update.
This bike also features a steel exhaust and a Micron swingarm, further enhancing its performance and durability.
Recent Service and Condition
This particular Africa Twin was sold new in Japan, as these models were not originally available in Australia. It looks like it has never left the road, with brakes recently serviced and both the fuel tank and carburetors cleaned. It also comes with new Michelin dual-sport tyres and a new chain slider, making it ready for its next adventure.
