A Brief History of the DB1
Produced between 1985 and 1990 in Rimini, Italy, the Bimota DB1 is a rare collector’s item with a total production of just 500 units worldwide. Commissioned by Cagiva and designed by Dr. Frederico Martini, Bimota's Technical Director and ex-Ducati engineer, the DB1 was crucial in saving Bimota from financial troubles. The "DB1" stands for Ducati Bimota One, marking it as the first Bimota powered by a Ducati engine.
Design and Performance
The DB1 exemplifies Bimota's dedication to superior craftsmanship and performance. Key features include:
Lightweight Tubular Trellis Frame: Enhances rigidity and contributes to agile handling.
Brakes: 280 mm Brembo dual floating discs with gold series calipers at the front and a 260 mm Brembo floating disc at the rear.
Rims: Bimota’s breakable, pressed aluminum, riveted 16-inch rims.
Exhaust System: Recently ceramic coated to maintain its high-performance and aesthetic appeal.
